I’m a mom of two girls, 17 and 19. And ever since they were little, I’ve had a beautiful basket in the corner of my living room. It’s round, about the size of the laundry basket, with handles and a lid. Most nights, before I go to bed, I try to go around the house and tidy a bit after the chaos of the day. But some nights, life happens and I don’t have 15 minutes to tidy up, I only have 2 minutes. So I grab my basket and I walk around the house and throw everything that is out of place in the basket. Then, I put the basket back and replace its lid. Boom. I will be waking up to a house that does not look like a teen tornado came thru.
If anyone needs to find something for the rest of the week, they look in the basket. Then on Sunday morning, we dump the basket on the dining table and everyone is responsible for putting their stuff away right then. Not in 5 minutes, not before they go to bed, not right before they get back from going out with their friends, but right then. Trust me, a crap basket will change your life.
