Going on vacation is a wonderful way to relax, bond with your family, and explore new places. However, the process of returning from vacation can often be a stressful experience. By implementing a few essential strategies you can ensure a smooth transition back to your daily routine and mitigate any post-vacation blues. Here are some tips to make your return from vacation go smoothly.

Plan Ahead

Before you embark on your vacation, take some time to plan for your return. If you are jumping right back in to life, make sure everything you need for your first day back is easily accessible.

Clean and Organize

Returning to a cluttered and untidy home can dampen your post-vacation bliss. Prior to leaving for your vacation, dedicate some time to clean and organize your living space. Dispose of perishable items, do the laundry, and ensure that everything is in order. If you are pressed for time, use “The Crap Basket”. (Check out our Insights page to learn how "The Crap Basket" will change your life!) Coming back to a clean and inviting home will help you settle in comfortably and eliminate unnecessary stress.

Pack Like a Pro:

When packing for your trip, it's helpful to organize your belongings in a way that facilitates an effortless return. Consider using packing cubes or compartments to keep organized during your travel. Bring a laundry bag to save time when unpacking at home. Keep essentials such as travel documents, keys, and chargers in a designated place for easy access upon your return. And finally, don’t overpack.

Ease Back into Routine

Jumping straight into a hectic schedule immediately after returning from vacation can be overwhelming. To make the transition smoother, gradually reintroduce yourself to your regular routine. Allow yourself a day to unwind, catch up on rest, and adjust to the time zone if you traveled across different time zones.

Plan for a Smooth Reentry

Have a plan to pick up your pet and stock your fridge. At Happy to Help, one of our most requested services is our “Return from Vacation Package”.  Here’s how it works.  Before you depart, we get your grocery list, your post-travel ready-to-heat meal request, the location of your pet for pick up, and your house key.  On your day of return, we stock your fridge and leave a ready-to-heat meal for you.  We can pick up your pet from boarding ensuring lots of puppy kisses and cat purrs the moment you walk in the door.  Your house will be set to the temperature you like and there will be flowers in your kitchen.  Don’t be surprised if the beds are turned down with a chocolate on the pillow too. We make your vacation last one more day

Returning from vacation doesn't have to be a chaotic or overwhelming experience. By employing these strategies and tips, you can ensure a smooth transition back to your regular routine while cherishing the memories from your trip.
